Style Is Timeless

In case you didn't know, you are about to be informed! There are now no more excuses for the way some of you men dress. Check out the videos below from

Domenico "Mimmo" Spano
As Saks Fifth Avenue's suiting guru, Mimmo Spano knows a thing or two about enduring style. As for fashion? Well, he likes that about as much as he likes casual Fridays.

Gay Talese
New Journalism pioneer Gay Talese is known for three things: groundbreaking magazine work ("Frank Sinatra Has A Cold"), best-selling books (Thy Neighbor's Wife), and an unrivaled passion for the art of tailoring (watch, and you'll see).

Alan Flusser
What's the secret to dressing well? Why can't Brad Pitt pick out his own clothes? For the first in a series of videos, we put those questions and more to tailor and author Alan Flusser.

Jordan XXV In 2010?

Here are some sketches of the rumored Jordan's for next year, which will also be the 25th pair. I might cop them just because.

A Bathing Ape's Interview

After six months in the basement of Dover Street Market, A Bathing Ape has re-opened its London store. While the address (Upper James Street) hasn’t changed, the architecture has, thanks to a major refurbishment by Masamichi Katayama of design firm Wonderwall. Esquire took the opportunity of Nigo’s trip to the UK to quiz him on his taste for British style - and Savile Row in particular.

Why did you want a store in London?

“This was the first place I wanted to open a shop outside of Japan. I have always been influenced by London streetstyle and I used to travel here a lot even before I opened the store. The fashion scene I grew up with in Tokyo was very influenced by London’s scene, which was very fast-moving and good at fusing lots of different influences together.”

What was your brief for the design of the new shop?

“I wanted it to be clean and simple. I have always loved neon signs and I wanted that to be the main feature of the store design.”

We’ve heard about your taste for Savile Row suits – what about them appeals to you?

“I am interested in what they do because it is very different from what I do. I wanted to see the process and I appreciate the clothes. I have always been concerned with trying to achieve the quality and consistency of industrial production but on a really small scale; whereas they are making one-off pieces tailored for the individual customer.”

Who’s your tailor and how did you pick them?
“Anderson & Sheppard - because I had heard of them. I also have suits made by Huntsman. They represent the two very different styles of Savile Row. I like both for different reasons.”

When do you wear a suit?

“Sometimes to work - I have never had to wear formal clothes to work so it doesn’t seem like a duty or a chore; it’s actually quite refreshing.”

How does Savile Row, which emphasises tradition, compare with the frenetic world of fashion, which emphasises novelty?
“One of the main things that interests me about clothes is how they are made for now and yet in rare cases they gain value over time. That’s why I like vintage stuff: it was made for a very commercial reason, but over time it acquires a different value. I have never wanted to make stuff which is just throw-away.”

I Wish I Had Some "Dough"!

There back! My brother Marvin had a pair of these back in the day and I wanted to rock them so bad, but we wore different sizes. “If you were around and about in the mid 90’s you would already know that this boot is not only a classic, its a legend. The Polo Ranger also known as the "Cookie" boot was brought back last Fall and sold out within a few days of its release. This year we see it in 3 classic colors and materials; Brandy oiled Leather, Black Leather, and Tan nubuck.” They went for sale online this Friday.

I Like Drake, but...

One of the greatest inventions to me right now is the DVR (Digital Video Recorder). I actually never watch live television anymore. I have all my favorite programs pre-recorded and whenever I'm bored I just sit down and watch a marathon of The Game, Entourage, King of Queens, The Office, Family Guy, Hawthorne (Jada has been killing it so far) and many others. So fast forward to last Sunday night's BET Awards show, where I was able to forward through all the standard commercials all the yak, yak, yak and terrible performances.

Fast forward even more to the Drake, Lil' Wayne and Young Money performance which was a disgrace. It's sad and unfortunate that BET continues to crank out mediocrity and perpetuate negative stereotypes of black men, women, and children. Although they likely received high ratings for the awards show, there is no honor in reinforcing the status quo's opinion of black people. The tribute to Michael Jackson and the overall show had its great moments, however, it failed to deliver a solid, quality show.

Now when Lil' Wayne, Drake, and Cash Money brought young, under-aged girls onto the stage to dance and serve as window dressing while they performed "Every Girl," a song that reduces girls and women to sex objects. In a culture where one out of four girls and women are either raped or sexually assaulted, why is it okay that BET allowed this to happen? Just asking?

It Feels Like the 90's Again! The Remix!

Okay, after yesterdays post I felt I needed to hip y'all to something that's so Hip Hop and so 80's and 90's. Again, if you where a product of this era and had any form of intellectual humor, then you had to be a fan of the hit television sitcom "Seinfeld." Like me, who was a huge Seinfeld watcher (I'll take on any trivia questions you got!) I also enjoyed an occasional Hip Hop video, magazine or movie during this era. An for those of you seeking and yearning the days of old... my friends, your prayers have been answered. Below is the experience that is "This Day...Anime Series" enjoy!

also check out the online magazine Tribes for a full interview with the creators Nowenen and Reggieknow at

It Feels Like the 90's Again!

For those of you fortunate enough to have experienced the late 80's and all of the 90's you hopefully know that was a special time for music, specifically Hip Hop. I'm talking Gangstarr, Nas, A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, 3rd Bass, BDP, Wu Tang, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, Nice & Smooth, Jungle Brothers, Organized Konfusion, Brand Nubian, Jeru, Poor Righteous Teachers, EPMD, Main Source, KMD, The Roots, Showbiz & AG, Blacksheep, Redman and I could go on and on, and speaking of Redman...

Pictured here with fashion designer Wil London (if you don't know of Wil London, you soon will. Visit his sites at and

when I finally heard Red and Meth's new album the Blackout 2, their first single ''Ayo'' kind of sent me back to that era of BET's RapCity with "The Mayor of Rap City" Chris Thomas and MTV's Yo! MTV Raps with hosts Fab 5 Freddy, Ed Lover and Dr. Dre. This to me was the height of Hip Hop. When there was different styles and you got a wide range of artist and concepts. When we waited weeks for a single to come out on cassette tape and you would buy the whole tape or CD just from the single alone, you didn't need a sample of the whole album on iTunes. When singles came with remixes and b-sides (whatever happen to b-sides?). So as I digress, I leave you with the video of ''Ayo" and a moment of silence to reminisce on the better times, because my friend Hip Hop is dead! T.R.O.Y

One of my favorite blogs that I visit everyday is Scott Schuman the creator of the blog showcases everyday people in their natural environments. He says "I thought I could shoot people on the street the way designers looked at people, and get and give inspiration to lots of people in the process."

One of the main reasons why I visit the blog everyday is because of that... and what better inspiration then fashionable women. So here are a few pics from his blog that I really liked. Enjoy! You can click on the images to enlarge.

Great mother/daughter moment. I love the red glove the little girl has on! Its always that splash of color that sets something off!

I don't know where she's at, but don't you want to be there! It looks so relaxing and inviting. I love S.Pellegrino and Macbook's too!

Her whole look is great. She exudes elegance, grace and femininity. I love the contrast of her hat too.

She looks like a Sex and the City character. She must be in New York.

Her whole look is dope! You have to be confident with yourself to pull this off and look this good! How cool is that older gentlemen next to her too.

She's beautiful, but how great is that background.

If I ever met this woman I would marry her on sight!
